Eliminating the "Chicken List"

Eliminating the “Chicken List”
This morning I found out I was on the “chicken list!” Imagine that! It was a funny discovery because I had no idea what a “chicken list” was. Fried, baked, grilled, barbequed… Was I being asked how I want my chicken cooked? But wait a minute! Who wants chicken at 10:00 in the morning?
Wisdom rose up within and I exercised the courage to ask, “What is a chicken list?” I was informed that a “chicken list” is a list of people you are afraid or apprehensive to talk to or to share things with. Me? I have always viewed myself as very approachable. So, how could I make the “chicken list?”
A conglomeration of thoughts flooded my mind with this new revelation. Why would anyone be intimidated by me? Have I or do I give off judgmental energy? Do I exhibit body language which causes people to “walk on egg shells?”
Perception could be the underlying culprit to the “chicken list.” The thought that someone is smarter, better, more successful, prettier, or more worthy of honor is just that; a thought. I have often heard that perception is reality. I don’t agree with that. Perception is your reality, would be more of a true statement.
Take a moment to assess yourself. Could you be on the “chicken list” as well? More importantly, how do we come off the list? I believe the major factor in eliminating the “chicken list” is rooted in exercising good communication skills, by being willing to be open and honest with others. In addition to this, getting comfortable in who we are individually will free us up from feelings of inferiority.
Have you embraced your passions? Are you able to identify your purpose in life? If so, that’s great. Go for it with all your might. “Do you” and run with it. If you’re ever tempted to create a “chicken list,” stop! No one is any better than you. You can be happy for others and their accomplishments, just like you can be satisfied with your own successes. It’s a choice.
Prior to ending the call, I requested to be removed from the “chicken list.” I was assured I would be removed immediately. Yea!
